Reunion-Saturday Dinner

On Saturday, September 25th we will hold the main event of the UR NROTC Alumni Reunion. This will be dinner at the Crystal City Marriott at Reagan National Airport, 1999 Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington. Cocktails will begin at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m. The for the meal will be $75 per person. There will be a cash bar available. The entree choices will be made available at a later date.

There will be a very short program as part of the evening to allow for maximum socializing.

Reunion-Friday Night

On Friday, September 24, we will be gathering at the Crystal City Sports Pub at 529 23rd Street South, Arlington. This location is within easy walking distance of the Crystal City Marriott. This casual event will begin at 5 p.m. Come whenever you can get away from work, or as soon as you get settled in your hotel. We are booked there till 8 p.m. We have a dedicated room for our party and heavy hors d'oeuvres will be available. A cost of $25 covers food and non-alcoholic beverages. A cash bar will also be available.

Reunion-Lodging

For those coming to the reunion who are in need of accommodation, the Crystal City Marriott at Reagan National Airport has offered a block of rooms at a group discount. To make a reservation, call 800-228-9290 or 703-413-5500. Ask for the UR NROTC Alumni Reunion group rate. If you make your reservations on line use the group code NRTNRTA. You must reserve by August 27 to get the reduced rate.

The Marriott is within easy walking distance of the Crystal City Sports Pub, location for the Friday night gathering. It is also the site of the Reunion Dinner on Saturday night. The Marriott is conveniently located to the Metro and plenty of shopping. It is possible to find on street parking nearby.

Reunion Taking Shape

There has been a lot of interest in the UofR NROTC reunion planned for this fall. Event sites have been booked for Friday night September 24 and Saturday night, the 25th. The Friday event will be a casual meet and greet event at a pub in Crystal City. The Saturday night dinner will be held at the Marriott Crystal City at Reagan National. A block of rooms have been reserved at this hotel at a reduced rate for Friday and Saturday nights.

Due to space limitations, the focus years for the reunion are the Classes of 1977 to 1984, so they will get priority for reservations. Other classes are welcome to attend as space permits. Spouses are definitely welcome.

Other events may be scheduled.

I have started putting the word out that our cross class UR NROTC Reunion will be the weekend of September 24-26, 2010 in the Washington DC area. Please save the date and pass the word. At the moment the focus classes are 1977 to 81 but other classes are welcome.
I need to get some idea of how many people are interested in attending so that I can reserve places for a Friday afternoon/evening cocktail reception and a Saturday night dinner.

Happy 30th Anniversary to the Class of 79!  Can you believe it has been 30 years since you graduated and got commissioned at UR?

I sent a letter to many of the UR NROTC members of the Class of 79.  I did miss a few and there are several who are "among the missing."  I asked for input about the timing of the reunion in the fall of 2010, the location in the DC area that might be most convenient and reasonable costs.  I haven't heard from too many . . . maybe Fall 2010 is just too far off the radar to think about.
